We're finished with the shell for Jary's Private Backyard bowl in New Smyrna Beach. Jary's is the second "permitted" back yard bowl we've built in Florida (*The first permitted bowl is in Kelly Lynn's back yard, also in New Smyrna Beach)!! Hoping to make it a trend. Jary's is also fully plumbed for future usage as a swimming pool... Although I'd add some fill dirt if I were going marine. Pool Coping and tile to come...
8' deep, 6" to a foot of vertical in the deep end. Pour 1 was 15 yards.
5' deep at the back of the pocket, 6' deep at the hips. 16 yards in this pour.
5 yards of flat. 2 drains because it will one day be a fully functioning skater/swimmer...
The bowl is also built "bunker-style" beginning with a 5' tall stack of concrete bags pre-arranged before fill dirt placement, in order to save on the space of a mound*. *A mound is necessary in Florida and other areas, to build a skate bowl that is designed to remain dry. In order to build above the water table, we normally construct a dirt mound with a 3/12 pitch around the raised area. Jary went another direction, and we hand stacked about 1200+ bags.
Squidward Bowl. (Sponge Bob Square Pants)
Full plumbing, including 2 strainer / "death" boxes, and 4 jet/returns.
Jary went ahead and put a huge bowl in his yard.
Stay tuned for pool coping and tile, along with decks... and skateboarding.
